This section of Family Environmental’s website is dedicated to our recently awarded projects.  These are projects that have been awarded over the past 12 months and which reflect the services that Family Environmental specializes in, as well as our commitment to innovative solutions to complex environmental problems.  More information about these projects can be found below.  Alternatively, information can be obtained from the corresponding project manager.

 

Denver:

  1. 1.)    Kroeger Co.: Operation Management Plans

Project Manager: Sam Rolf
Family Environmental has been tasked by Kroeger Co. to design Operation Management Plans for all King Soopers stores with known asbestos containing materials, in order to be OSHA compliant and prevent the disturbance of this asbestos during normal business activities.

Project Manager: Sam Rolf

Family Environmental has been tasked to perform screening for potential asbestos in soil at the former Stapleton International Airport, a project which we have held since 1999.

Family Environmental has been tasked with processing, sampling and clearing soils for the new Voluntary Cleanup Plan (VCUP) that was designed by Family Environmental and implemented on the Stapleton project in order to address the disturbance of potentially asbestos contaminated soil, the testing of which is necessary for redevelopment of the site.

 

Kansas City:

  1. 1.)    City of Kansas City, MO; Capital Improvement Management Office (CIMO) 

Block 100 – Former Greyhound Bus Terminal:

Project Manager: Michael Dustman

Family Environmental performed Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, abatement oversight, building demolition oversight, underground storage tank (UST) removals, as well as project management and final air clearances.  The building was completely recycled up to 95%, which was then used as fill for the site.

Block 82 – Former Fire Brigade Museum

Project Manager: Michael Dustman

Family Environmental performed Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, abatement oversight, building demolition oversight, underground storage tank (UST) removals, as well as project management and final air clearances.

 

  1. 3.)    Toolco Real Estate, c/o: Merrill Companies, LLC

11500 Ambassador Drive, Former TWA Headquarters

Project Manager: Michael Dustman

Family Environmental has been tasked with performing asbestos abatement oversight, which includes project design, third-party air monitoring, project management and the preparation of an operations and maintenance plan for use by building maintenance staff, so as not to disturb any remaining asbestos containing materials that were not previously abated.

 

  1. 4.)    Commerce Bank, Corporate Facilities Group: Radon Investigations

Project Manager: Michael Dustman

Family Environmental has been tasked with performing radon monitoring for 18 branch locations, in order to determine employee exposure.  From these assessments, Family Environmental is making recommendations, as well as providing solution designs and follow up via long-term monitoring.

 

Cedar Rapids:

  1. 1.)    City of Cedar Rapids, IA: Air Monitoring

Project Manager: Michael Murphy

Family Environmental was tasked with providing National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs) oversight and downwind air monitoring during the demolition of approximately 130 flood damaged residential structures throughout the Cedar Rapids area.

 

  1. 2.)    City of Cedar Rapids, IA: Environmental Assessments-Commercial City Owned Properties

Project Manager: Michael Murphy

Family Environmental conducted various environmental assessments of City Owned commercial buildings.  These inspections included initial and periodic mold sampling, asbestos bulk sample surveys and developing remediation protocols to ensure that the remediation contractors provided thorough and accurate bid proposals.

 

  1. 3.)    Linn County, IA: Environmental Assessments-Flood damaged Residential Structures

Project Manager: Michael Murphy

Family Environmental has been tasked with performing environmental assessments on 15 flood damaged residential structures, which include mold, household hazardous wastes and asbestos containing materials.

 

  1. 4.)    City of Cedar Rapids, IA

Demolition Project Management of 1275 flood damaged residential structures

Project Manager: Michael Murphy

Family Environmental has been tasked with providing project management services for the assessment, remediation and demolition of 1275 residential and 100 commercial structures.  Tasks for this project include the management of an assessment contractor, remediation contractor and demolition contractor throughout the length of a 15-month contract.

 

  1. 5.)    City of Cedar Rapids, IA: Air Quality Testing

Project Manager: Michael Murphy

Family Environmental has been tasked with performing air quality testing services for 50 renovated residential properties located within Cedar Rapids.  This air testing is for mold, asbestos, lead, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), humidity and temperature.
